Education, publicity and fundraising
The Education, Publicity and Fundraising (EPF) coordinator is responsible for the public face of Sunseed. In overseeing the website and the promotion of Sunseed the EPF department communicates with the media, future visitors and other organisations.
EPF also coordinates the education of staff and visitors during their time at Sunseed and produces and supports the production of educational and publicity material.
Weekly 'Green Speak' sessions give visitors an opportunity to learn about and debate a wide range of environmental issues. In the past we've covered topics such as biofuels, population control, the Copenhagen Summit, sustainable transport, carbon capture & storage. What we did in the last months?
June 2010
Completed an educational visit for a student group from Roquetas' High School on the 21st of June.
Hosted Open Day on the 26th of June, along with other staff members and the Eco-Pita-School.
Take part in a second meeting in Sorbas Visitors Centre Los Yesares organised by Andalucian Environmental Ministry (Concejeria de Medio Ambiente) with other local institutions.
Guided several General Tours of the project.
Organise an Educational Visit with AT coordinator for volunteers to the Solar Platform.
Work on organizing Sunseed's Summer Courses.
Continue working on the publicity for English and Spanish magazines and websites, writing articles, adverts, etc.
Work on Sunseed's website in English and Spanish, updating the contents, adding new pictures, fresh information, etc...
Taking part on the Communal working days with the other Departments and volunteers: on Gardens, Kitchen and the Geodesic Dome.

What's going on in the next month?July 2010 Educational Guided Tours of the project, for volunteers and visitors. Organise visits for volunteers to other projects, such as the Solar Platform, Rodalquilar Tree Nuresery, etc... Work on organizing Sunseed's Summer & Autumn Courses. Work with the different departments to create and develop new educational materials and activities for volunteers, visitors, schools, etc.. Taking Sunseed publicity and info material to Summer events, festivals, etc.. Continue working on the publicity for English and Spanish magazines and websites, writing articles, adverts, etc... During the last 4 years I have been a Social Worker in the Spanish NGO Acudim, in the management and organisation of the activities, and services, writing and developing programmes, fundraising and grants, communication, website, etc..
Before that I worked in Italy with ARCI Chieti – Officine Culturali, as coordinator of the Education Area, working on different issues: sustainable development, ethical consumption, fair trade, human rights, interculturality, pacifism, active and participative citizenship, art and culture promotion… ; at local and at a European level, with the Youth European Programme, organising youth exchanges, contact seminars, training courses, EVS European Voluntary Service, etc..

In the last few years I become more involved and interested about ecological, social, economical and humanitarian issues, taking part in different courses and activities, such as organic gardening, eco construction, and self development, before I arrived at Sunseed. I have arrived December 2009 and my intention is to experiment a more sustainable way of living and to use and share my skills, knowledge and energy to enrich this wonderful project... and learn looots! What are the things makes my soul to expand? The music, to enjoy the beauty, to strech, to laugh, the Sun :) |
