About the role
Through observations of natural ecosystems Drylands Management department aims to
understand the process of natural plant succession, degradation and development of soil to formulate land-management policies. We attempt to incorporate academic research with a practical and realistic land-management strategy and guide volunteers through their learning process.
The work is very varied and challenging. Nowadays department´s objectives are focused in the environmental education, nature conservation and regeneration of local vegetal communities through sustainable and respectful methods.
Adaptability and creativity are necessary factors when designing experiments and projects of action. The department has basic facilities that include a library, past records, a seed bank, a herbarium and a tree nursery.
Department is also responsible for the project’s waste water system and the use of it as a resource.
- Supervision and education of volunteers
- Maintenance of ongoing projects
- Tree care (fruit trees and olive trees in the project)
- Assist maintenance of a low-tech tree nursery
- Ability to communicate well in Spanish and English
- Age 26+, full driving license for at least 5 years
- Ability to drive a van
- First aid training
