Thermal Mass Kachelofen (German Stove) Course

During 22nd to 25th April 2011

Run by Jef Carrick. Eco construction and Maintenance coordinator of Sunseed

A four days course in learning how to design and construct your own thermal mass heater for home installation.

Thermal mass stoves work by fast burning wood to heat the thermal mass of the stove, radiating slowly for several hours, providing a much more pleasant heat than conventional convection heating from wood burning stoves. Thermal mass stoves are extremely efficient at converting the calorific value of wood into heat, achieving efficiencies of around 90% compared to 20% for open fireplaces.

Baboo Polytunnel Construction

During 4th- 8th December 2010

Run by Jef Carrick Eco-Construction and Maintenance Coordinator & Kirsty Heron Organic Garden Coordinator.

A for-day practical course with Ivan, Jorge, Borja y Marysol we constructed a home Polytunnel with caña (local bamboo) structure and arches, economical and easy.

Thermal Mass Kachelofen (German Stove) Course

During 9th - 12th October 2010

Run by Jef Carrick. Eco construction and Maintenance coordinator of Sunseed

During four days the participants learned how to design and construct their own thermal mass heater for home installation.

We made a German Stove, kachelofen with fire bricks, from the base to the end fitting the pipe and the window.
