Assistant position
The Appropriate technology department coordinates the maintenance and improvement of community infrastructure, technologies and services at Sunseed. The two key areas are sun and water: renewable electricity generation and consumption, solar water heating, and solar cookers, water service provision, maintenance of the ram pump & waste water system, and overseeing of the water distribution system of Los Molinos del Rio Aguas.
The Technical assistant will work within the Appropriate Technology departments, assisting the corresponding coordinator.
Duration: 3 - 6 months
Commitment: full-time
Core Responsibilities

Assisting the supervision of the renewable electricity system

Assisting the maintenance of the irrigation line and ram pump and overseeing the water distribution system

Assisting with general repairs of our low-technologies

Supervising co-learning residents in choosing and carrying out project work in the technical team

Contributing to courses and events run at Sunseed

Documenting work done

Ensuring safety
Requirements
-
Experience in one or several of these: eco-construction, hydrology, plumbing systems, electronics and electricity, carpentry, welding, foundry, photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, water turbines, biofuels, solar heating

Ability to work with others, encouraging contributions from people with less experience or knowledge

Interest in working with recycled materials
