Assistant position
The Education Department is responsible for designing and delivering educational experiences for external visitors (such as school groups, university students and other organisations) that reflect Sunseed’s core values of environmental sustainability, regeneration and community living. It also provides learning opportunities for community members through workshops, trainings and activities. Assistants can work on projects like archiving and anarchiving methods or designing educational activities on degrowth, sociocracy, decolonisation and environmental justice. Find creative ways to make the community reflect and discuss uncomfortable topics like the challenges that surround us.
It is required that you bring your own laptop and phone to the project.
Duration: 3 - 6 months
Commitment: full-time
Core Responsibilities

Help interns and ESC volunteers with their personal projects, conduct interviews for their recruitment

Researching and educating Sunseed members about decolonisation, degrowth and environmental justice including raising awareness about our surrounding challenges

Creative ideas on archiving (and anarchiving) educational materials, organising and making visible the existing archives (analog and online)

Help organise educational activities such as workshops, open days, external visits, school visits, group visits, guided tours, and host your own educational activity

Assisting in managing the mentoring system for all members of Sunseed

Encourage the development of monitoring and evaluation of activities and learning processes

Maintaining and improving informational signs around the project

Writing blogs and articles related to the educational activity at Sunseed
Requirements

Commitment to promoting low impact living and environmental education

Curiosity and some experience in workshop delivery and facilitation with young people

Initiative and creativity to explore new opportunities, networks and ideas

Good communication skills, including ability to work as part of a closely integrated team

A strong affinity with Sunseed’s vision and mission

Good organisational abilities

Experience engaging with a diverse audience
