This year’s Festival en defensa del Agua has truly lived up to its name and kicked off with some light rainfall, only to be picked up again by some beautiful sunshine in the evening. Preparations for our annual festival were in full swing from March to April: Everyone was involved working on building the structures, cutting caña and grass, building bars and toilets, painting signs, crafting decorations, organising the program and distributing the festival posters around the area.
If you want to see how much fun we had building up, have a look at this funky video: https://www.instagram.com/p/DXccsS7DJ4C/

With the festival we are raising awareness about our precious and endangered river that gives life to our beautiful valley. Our talk area hosted some lively discussions around local politics, water protection, activism and the environmental challenges surrounding this valley.
We thank all the speakers and people contributing to these important conversations.

The program this year was an absolute treat and we were super excited to present such a delicious menu of activities.
We put together a lively collection with interesting talks, performances, workshops, tours and guided walks, activities for children and a craft market. We offered freshly cooked vegan food that ou rkitchen team eagerly prepared the day before. We sold homemade drinks and beers at our bars until the late night. Juanma, our former Gardens coordinator came to visit and even hosted an almond cracking contest! And of course, we had you covered with fantastic live music, from afternoon all the way into the night with our vibrant DJ sets.
Have a look at our program and what we offered this year:
We had a tarot card reader, kids face painting, a workshop on somatic practices and companionship in the wild, on water healing and wool spinning and drystone walling. We were moved to tears by the dance performance of Neus and Berta portraying through non-verbal communication the relationship of humans to our natural bodies of water.
A big thanks goes to all the wonderful musicians and dancers that performed at the festival and made our bodies move: La Cuadrilla del Maestro Galvez, La Entusiasta, Silvestre Sonoro and Sergio Showl!
We could all show off our talents at the Salsa dance class lead by Pilar and Alfredo, hopefully they forgive us for all the feet we stepped on. Before our DJ set began, Sunseed performed their annual song, this year with loud voices and lots of dance!
But this is not were our festival ended, but the night only had begun, with our absolute fire DJ set that we danced to until late into the morning hours: Insonnio, Dan Cat, Silfo and Rogue Rebel Expect gave us a full mix of Jungle, Psytrance, Drum & Bass and Tekno.
